The man accused of being involved in the robbery of Afrikaans singer and songwriter Anton Goosen appeared briefly in the Pretoria magistrate's court on Monday.

Zimbabwean national Jose Finiche, of Diepsloot, is facing a charge of housebreaking.

He might also be charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.

Finiche was arrested at the weekend. According to police spokesperson Inspector Katlego Mogale, various items were seized during a police operation. When the suspect later returned home, his wife told him about the raids. Highly upset, Finiche went to the police station to complain about this "intrusion".

Mogale said the duty officer noted the suspect's ID number and realised it corresponded with fingerprints found in Goosen's home. Finiche was arrested.

The singer was woken in his Hennopspride home in January by four men. He was robbed of several valuables, including awards he had won. He was also forced to drive the men away in his bakkie.

About a kilometre from his home, the attackers tied Goosen up and dumped him next to the road. Bleeding, he had to walk back to his smallholding.

The case was on Monday postponed for further investigation.
